Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Product Safety Engineer to evaluate and certify electrical products for compliance with national and international safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical safety testing, technical documentation, and client-facing project management, with expertise in product assessments and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine project scope, develop investigation plans, and define project specifications, including cost, timelines, and sample requirements, based on client inputs and product construction.
- Perform and oversee product assessments and component evaluations at laboratory or client locations to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, including EN/IEC/UL 62368, 61010, and 60335.
- Conduct technical file reviews, document findings, and prepare detailed technical reports within established timelines.
- Review product design, engineering, and manufacturing processes, identifying and documenting compliance gaps or deficiencies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between clients and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate technical issues, project progress, and compliance requirements with clients and cross-functional teams.
- Lead client meetings to discuss project status, testing progress, and technical concerns.
- Develop and implement new testing techniques and procedures to support evolving technologies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory conducting electrical safety testing.
- Strong knowledge of national and international electrical product safety standards, preferably related to electric vehicle charging systems, batteries, and energy storage systems.
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment and participation or awareness of applicable standards committees.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Project management experience is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing products related to EV charging infrastructure, battery technologies, or energy storage systems.
- Additional experience in laboratory-based electrical product safety evaluations.
